Its style, however, is manifestly late 20th century: surfaces have a slickness–but unlike Pop art, her paintings are sincere in their praise of factory-produced objects. There is no irony here. By abstracting the mechanical devices she paints from their everyday settings, Lewandowski-Lois reveals the shapes we take for granted as worthy of artistic attention as any landscapes, any bowl of peaches and pears.
